LAMB Learning & Development Centre

Courses in nursing, midwifery and health services promote and increase competent and compassionate health and development work throughout Bangladesh.

Caring for others is a way of life at LAMB. Equal respect is given to everyone, regardless of job role, position in society, or background.

“We have never seen this type of training or health care environment in Bangladesh, with such an attitude of service demonstrated by all staff working as equal members of a team.” Course attendee

The Training Centre courses address emotional, spiritual, mental and physical needs. They promote holistic service in training and increasing competent and compassionate health and development work throughout Bangladesh. The students are LAMB staff, Government officers and other NGO personnel in the fields of health and development.

The Training Centre runs more than 30 different courses ranging in length from 2 days to 3 years. LAMB Hospital is recognised as a postgraduate training institution for doctors, and works closely with the Training Centre for provision of practical clinical experience.

History

Community health, clinical care and teaching, were the initial focus of LAMB’s work in the 1970s. LAMB has over 45 years’ experience in health training. In 2006 the new Training Centre opened to teach and provide accommodation for students.

Training Approach

LAMB’s training approach is skills-based to enhance job-specific capabilities and attitudes that directly impact performance. Teaching is delivered through a combination of classroom sessions and practical experience.

Training continues to be improved in both clinical and management skills by conducting follow-up field visits to trainees and with in-service performance reviews.

Training combines physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health as we believe that overall health is a result of all these elements.
