Information services and research

Management Information Services (MIS) has two focuses:

  • Management Information: Analysis of routine data from the hospital and from Community Health and Development Programmes for monitoring progress and to provide strategic guidance

  • Research: Developing and participating in high quality ethical research which addresses health and development problems in rural Bangladesh

Critical tasks of MIS-Research:

  • Developing staff with core skills of data collection, analysis and interpretation

  • Developing and refining data bases enabling linkage of community and hospital data; reporting of health service information; and equity-focused analysis of health service access and outcomes for the poor

  • Analysis of data from the hospital and the community to provide information to monitor the progress of programmes and activities and assist in strategic decision making,

  • Develop and carry out research projects addressing health, development and justice issues

  • Participate in joint research projects with national and international bodies

MIS-Research has grown rapidly and currently has 19 staff covering:
