WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT LAMB ?
- Almost all people who come to visit LAMB, or to work here, consider it a remarkably good place. Here are some of the reasons why – not in any particular order
- It is a very caring place
- It is always full of people and busy
- It is professionally very well run
- It is not corrupt
- It is Christian, and tries very hard to give a good example
- Half the staff are of other religions, as are more than 90% of the patients
- It really focuses on the poor and the poorest of the poor
- It is surprisingly high quality medical care
- We have some extremely high quality staff
- It really works with the disadvantaged every day
- Half of the Directors/ Heads of major Departments are Bangladeshi
- We don’t keep people out
- Although there are differences, relatively speaking LAMB is low on status awareness. (We have no cars for management)
- We are always assessing whether we are really still reaching the poorest
- It is a real pleasure (and honour) to work here
- It has maintained very high standards throughout its existence
- The large number of short term volunteers enables LAMB to keep abreast with good practice outside, and bring continual refreshment to LAMB
- Although certainly not perfect, we strive continually to treat all people with mutual respect
- We believe that prayer makes a difference
- It is very high quality despite being a rural hospital serving the poor, and far from the capital city
- It is set in a lovely environment, largely surround by rice paddies, and its own grounds make it very pleasant
