It employs more than 97,000 people, over 60% of them women, and works with the twin objectives of poverty alleviation and empowerment of the poor. It is independent and virtually self-financed. BRAC works with people whose lives are dominated by extreme poverty, illiteracy, disease and other handicaps. With multifaceted development interventions, BRAC strives to bring about positive changes in the quality of life of the poor people of Bangladesh.

Friends of LAMB in Australia, their purpose is to raise money for LAMB, a Christian community health, hospital and education project in Northern Bangladesh serving the poorest of the poor.

The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society is a USA Christian social ministry organization which seeks to share God's love in lively community settings and through services that support people in their own homes. Since 1960 the Cholera Research Laboratory and its successor ICDDR.B has been recognized as the leading international health research centre located in a developing country. Its research forms the core of the world’s knowledge of diarrhoeal diseases and led to the development of Oral Rehydration Solution. ICDDR.B is now active in many forms of public health related research.
