M.I.S + RESEARCH
Management Information Systems (MIS) was established as a separate department at LAMB in early 2006. The two main foci of the department are1. Management Information: Analysis of routine data from the Hospital and from Community Health and Development Programs for progress monitoring and to provide strategic guidance
2. Research: Developing and participating in high quality ethical research which addresses health and development problems in rural Bangladesh.
Current critical tasks of MIS-Research:
- Developing staff with core skills of data collection, analysis and interpretation
- Developing and refining data bases that enable linkage of community and hospital data; reporting of health service information; and analysis of health service access and outcomes for the poor
- Analysis of data from the hospital and the community to provide information to monitor the progress of programs and activities, assist in strategic decision making, and enable early identification of trends relevant to LAMB
- Develop and carry out research projects addressing health, development and justice issues relevant to our local target communities, as well as the broader Bangladesh context.
- Participate in joint research projects with national and international bodies
- Provide accurate, well presented data to enable LAMB to disseminate the impact of its programs and systems locally, nationally and internationally.
