HOSPITAL
Started in 1983, LAMB Hospital is now a 150 bed general hospital with a large out-patients service. It cares for about 8,500 in-patients per year, and 55,000 out-patients.The hospital is run by a team of approximately 180 staff, mainly Bangladeshi but with a small number of expatriates and visiting doctors in certain skill areas.
A special feature of LAMB is its ability to provide continuity of care – linking village health work, community clinics, and the hospital. The community link helps to overcome the barriers and fears linked with hospital treatment, and helps identify those in advance who need higher level care. Appropriate and accessible health care thereby becomes more possible.
The hospital shares the overall LAMB focus. We focus on treating the poorest of the poor. There is particular emphasis on reaching women and children, and there is a strong desire to serve in the Spirit and name of Jesus.
